When you think about a highlands holiday, you don’t tend to think about fishing as one of the activities you could enjoy. This is where Janda Baik would surprise you!
With its farming history, the region is dotted with fishponds, housing hundreds and thousands of freshwater fish species such as red tilapia, black tilapia, carp, koi and catfish. Fishponds make a lot of sense within a farm, as the fish can be fed with farm waste, such as vegetable stalks, fallen fruits and grass cuttings, providing the farmer with a cheap and productive food source.
Today, many of the fishponds are part of a garden landscape rather than a farm. While many are for the private enjoyment of their owner, several are also open for the public to try their luck! Children seem especially thrilled to have a go at this activity.
Here are 4 fishponds that you can fish at in Janda Baik:
- Radiant Retreats
- Le’ Manah Retreat
- Fifty4 Ferns
- Sailor’s Rest
…but you may see signage for other options as well as you drive around Janda Baik.
